Assignments

  • During the first session, come up with two podcast concepts that you you would be interested in pitching to you group.

    In your group, pick one concept for your podcast. Each group member will come up with two interview questions to ask during the filming of the podcast tomorrow.

  • If you decide to take on a BTS role as a videographer, photographer or editor, here are your expectations:

    Photographer: During the pre-production, production, and post-production, use your phone/teammates phone to take photos of the behind-the-scenes. Compose at least 20 well-made images to display your group's experience.

    Videographer (2): 2 teammates will take on the role of videographer. Using your/teammates phone, gather 3-7 minutes of video content that shows your team's experience in production.

    Editors (2): 2 teammates will take on the role of editor. Using the footage from the videographers, edit a 2-4 minute video that shows the BTS of the podcast production.

    Film and edit this team doc and email it to Jeannette Rodriguez at jeannette.rodriguez@blackgirlsdontgetlove.com by October 5.

    Note: This video can be either portrait or landscape. Editing softwares recommended are CapCut, Adobe Premiere, and iMovie

  • Write a 75-100 word personal bio written in third person.

    Who are you? What have you done? What do you know to do for your career? Anything media related? Why did you want to attend the Video Podcast Training Program?

    Submit it to Jeannette Rodriguez at jeannette.rodriguez@blackgirlsdontgetlove.com by October 5 at 6 PM.

  • Before your podcast segment is showing at the Screening Event, you and your team will have to get on stage and present yourself and your podcast idea.

    Please practice your introduction in front of an instructor OR submit a video/written out practice to Eden Strachan at eden.strachan@blackgirlsdontgetlove.com by October 5th at 6 PM.

FAQs

  • Class is from 3 PM - 6 PM on October 4.

    Class is from 9 AM - 3 PM on October 5.

  • If you are not receiving emails when instructors say they sent them to you, try using a different email. Sometimes school emails block out-of-network emails.

    If that does not work, have your parent/guardian message an instructor on your behalf.

  • Every student must do the initial survey. However, only the students in attendance of each workshop takes the workshop-specific surveys.

    After the last workshop, every student must take the OVERALL survey go we get an understanding of what you learned.

  • In partnership with the Black Girls Don't Get Love Screenwriting Workshop at BHS, on October 12 both cohorts will present their work from the respective programs.

    Please arrive at Binghamton High School by 1:30 PM for the Pitch and Screening Event that will take place from 2 PM - 4 PM.

    More information will be released closer to the event.
